The largest airport in the United Arab Emirates and the entire Middle East. One of the most advanced and busiest airports in the world. The airport lies in the Al Garhoud district, approximately 4 kilometers from the historic center of Dubai. It can serve up to 80 million passengers a year. India remained the most popular destination in recent years. It is the base for the national Emirates Airlines and its subsidiary flydubai.

The construction of the Dubai Airport in 1959 was started by the British Costain Group Company under the order of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed al-Maktoum. The airport opened after just a year. It consisted of a small passenger terminal, an airplane parking lot, and an 1800-meter runway surface on compacted sand. In 1965, the first large-scale reconstruction was completed. A new concrete runway and a second terminal building were constructed. From that moment on, Dubai was able to receive De Havilland Comet jet airplanes. With the beginning of the massive use of large wide-bodied aircraft in civil aviation, in the early 70s, the airport required the expansion and modernization of the entire airline. After fulfillment of the necessary work, DXB began servicing the legendary Boeing 747 and Concorde airliners.

Since the early 2000s, the development of the airport has become even more rapid. For 10 years, there were constructed the Mega Cargo complex, new galleries of passenger terminals, a VIP pavilion, many auxiliary services, and civil infrastructure. All these made it possible to significantly enhance the existing indicators of the route network and passenger traffic.

Scheme of Dubai Airport

DXB Airport covers an area of 14 square kilometers. The airport has two runways of the highest category, a huge cargo block, a VIP terminal, and 3 passenger air terminals. T1 and T3 buildings are interconnected and form a single complex with an area of more than 2 million square meters. T2 lies on the opposite side of the airfield. It serves more than 40 airlines, including flydubai. The shuttles make transit between terminals. The main terminal for foreign carriers, T1, also known as the Sheikh Rashid Terminal, is capable of embarking over 20 million passengers a year. It is equipped with 50 boarding bridges, a food court, Duty-Free shops, and a 5-star hotel. T3 is the home terminal of the national airline Emirates. Until recently, it was the largest building in the world in area extent. It includes galleries "A" and "B", multi-level business rooms, two hotels, restaurants, and a reception hall with 180 counters. Concourse C is used exclusively by the airliner Airbus A380.

VIP Lounges

A separate luxury VIP terminal is located not far from T2. Its area is 5.5 thousand square meters. It services dignitaries, corporate employees, businessmen, and world sports stars. Guests have access to the individual passage of passport and customs control, the most modern and comfortable waiting rooms, lounges, Duty-Free shops, a business center, conference rooms, as well as delivery to the aircraft on a premium car.

More than 10 business lounges and lounge zones operate in the main passenger terminals. At T1 and T3, the Emirates First Class Lounge and Dubai international First-class are available for First Class passengers. Business-class passengers have the opportunity to visit the Plaza Premium Lounge and the Emirates Business Class Lounge. Lufthansa and British Airways have opened their own premium lounges at T1. The lounges are decorated in various styles and are equipped with everything you need to comfortably wait for departure or transit. Regardless of the class of service, everyone can order the services "Marhaba" or "Ahlan". These are service packages that include expedited pre- and post-flight formalities and special service lounges.

Luggage storage

Short-term luggage storage is available to passengers. They are located in the arrivals halls of terminals 1 and 3. Working hours are around the clock, seven days a week. Baggage wrapping machines operate in the check-in hall, opposite the 42nd counter. Emirates also offers a baggage delivery service within the UAE. This service can be booked at the appropriate counter in the arrival halls.

DXB Parking

Various charged parking lots are available near each terminal. Combined parking lots under the designations "A" and "B" differ in distance from the airport terminals (from 2 to 12 minutes on foot) and pricing policy. You can pay online or using parking meters on site.
