KLM Flights

Founded in 1919, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is the oldest carrier airline among all existing carriers today. The main motto of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is “The ocean of the air unites all people.” The airline's flight geography covers more than 360 countries of the world, serving 78 destinations throughout Europe. In 2004, a difficult decision was made by the airline's management. Due to the financial crisis in the aviation industry, KLM and French AirFrance merged. Since that period, they have become partner airlines. Nowadays, its main transport hub is located at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.

KLM fleet

The average operating period of KLM aircraft is 11 years. As of April 2020, the air fleet consisted of 119 aircraft. By the way, the company annually orders 15-20 vessels to renew its fleet.

KLM travel classes

On Royal Dutch Airlines flights, there are two travel classes that you can take into consideration: economy travel class and business travel class.

Economy travel class

On intercontinental flights, KLM's economy class cabins are equipped with an on-board entertainment system. Specially designed ergonomic seats offer the opportunity to enjoy increased legroom during the flight.

Business travel class

Business class passengers can use priority boarding and airport lounge services. The main advantages of business class passengers are comfortable seats with maximum space, a wide choice of meals on board, and an increased baggage allowance.

Baggage and carry-on baggage

Tickets purchased at the cheapest fares include carry-on baggage only. If you are a member of the Flying Blue program with a Silver, Gold, or Platinum status, you can transport one additional piece of baggage.

Carry-on baggage:

• economy travel class: 1 piece of carry-on baggage up to 12 kg is allowed;
• business travel class: it is allowed to transport 2 bags with a total weight of up to 18 kg.

Checked-in baggage:

• economy travel class: 1 piece of baggage up to 23 kg (the sum of three dimensions is not more than 158 cm);
• business travel class: 2 bags up to 32 kg (the sum of three dimensions is not more than 158 cm).

Excess baggage

The cost of an extra piece of baggage depends on the destination, flight duration, and fare rules. Passengers can get information regarding the price of extra baggage on the carrier's website.

KLM check-in

Check-in for KLM flights opens 24 hours prior to the departure time, and it ends 40 minutes before flight departure. You can check-in online either on the airline's website or using a special application.

Menus on board

Short flights up to two hours will offer drinks and light snacks. Passengers with special needs have the opportunity to pre-order meals: it can be a vegetarian menu, a Muslim one, or a special medical food (diabetic, glucose-free, low-cholesterol).

KLM flying with children

The airline has developed preferential fares for infants aged 0 to two years old and from 2 to 12 years old. For young passengers, a special children's menu has been developed, which is included in the price on long-haul flights. You must pre-order baby food no later than 24 hours before the flight. In each box with food, the child will find the KLM airline mascot — Bluey, which is a miniature, funny airplane.

KLM loyalty program

Regular passengers of Royal Dutch Airlines have the opportunity to participate in the special loyalty program Flying Blue, which is part of the major global airline alliance SkyTeam.
