A starting point to the Great Barrier Reef

A picturesque resort for great relaxation and kitesurfing

Port Douglas

Port Douglas is located in the northeast of Australia in the state of Queensland. The history of the city dates back to 1877 when gold deposits were found nearby. Over time, the town lost its importance, and a hurricane in 1911 almost completely destroyed it. The fishing village with its hundred inhabitants began to revive in the 1980s. The Sheraton Mirage Hotel was built here, and tourists started to explore a new destination for recreation. Today, the visitors of the town are attracted by the almost 6.5 km long beach Four Mile Beach, on the southern part of which kitesurfing is popular. You can go on an excursion to the Great Barrier Reef for diving and snorkeling. The city has many golf courses and a rich and varied catch for fishing enthusiasts. Every year, Port Douglas hosts famous festivals and carnivals.
