Porto Seguro
Porto Seguro is the age-mate of Brazil. In 1500, it was here that Portuguese Pedro Cabral landed to open a new country to the world. The official founding date of the city, which belongs to the eastern state of Bahia, is 1891. It has an international airport. The old center has preserved many interesting buildings of the XVIII century, including the Church of Nossa Senhora da Pena. It is also worth visiting the Discovery of Brazil Memorial and the Porto Seguro Museum. In addition to historical monuments, numerous beaches surrounded by clubs and restaurants attract tourists' attention. Nightlife buzzes in them until the morning. Porto Seguro has many exciting holidays and festivals related to Indian and African traditions. Make sure you visit the seafood restaurant, which has a varied menu. Taste caruru — salted shrimps in spicy sauce, vatapa — clams and fish in coconut juice, tacaca — a garlic soup with seafood. As far as drinks are concerned, the best choice is mate tea, which is made according to all the rules.
