Yaoundé is the capital of the African country of Cameroon. The largest city of the country is located in its south-eastern part. Yaounde was founded in the late XIX century by German colonists, and until 1915, it had been part of German Cameroon. From 1922 to 1960, the country had been under French rule. Since independence, Yaoundé has been the capital of the country. The urban areas are located in an interesting way — almost all of them are located along the main street (Kennedy Avenue) or on the nearby hills. It is worth seeing the sacral buildings: Benedictine Monastery, the Temple of N'Djong Melen, Our Lady of Victories Cathedral, and the Basilique Marie-Reine-des-Apôtres. It is interesting to visit the Art Museum of Cameroon, the Museum of Black Art, and the Crafts Centre to learn about the country's history and traditions. North of the capital is Luna Park, where you can go with the whole family.
