Foundation on the Museum Island

The Deutsches Museum of Science and Technology was established at the beginning of the 20th century by Oskar von Miller, and till the present day, it is considered to be the largest museum of its kind. Among 28 thousand expositions, the dynamoelectric machine, created by the inventor Siemens, a motor from the first Benz automobile model, and the first German submarine are among the most significant items in the museum. The most popular exposition among the visitors is the Model Train Set, which occupies a separate room. There is also a separate hall that is dedicated to the aircraft industry and aerodynamics.

In the Deutsches Museum, you can learn about the history of the computer technology development by visiting an exposition that includes the very first models of the ECM in the world, as well as the modern supercomputers; in the same chronology, there is an exposition dedicated to photo- and video technology.

Opening Hours and Ticket Prices to the Museum

Opening Hours: every day from 9 am to 5 pm (except holidays).

*The box offices stop sale the tickets one hour before the museum closing.

Ticket Prices:

  • Adults – 12 €;
  • Children from 6 to 17 years old – 4 €;
  • Seniors (from 65 years old) and disabled persons – 7 €;
  • Groups of 20 and more people – 7 € per person;
  • Family ticket (2 adults with children) – 25 €;
  • Children up to 5 years old – free.

Additional fees:

  • Planetarium – 3 €;
  • Combined ticket (that includes: Deutsches Museum + Traffic Centre + Schleissheim Airdrome) – 19 €.

*Children up to 12 years old should be accompanied by an adult.
