Vigo is in the northwestern part of Spain. The city is the capital of Galicia, a major port and industrial center. Vigo is rich in historical and architectural attractions. Tourists explore the old town, the Berbés Sailors' District, the picturesque harbor, the ancient fortress of Castro, the suspension Rande Bridge. They also visit the only zoo in the region with an impressive collection of animals. Most travelers, however, come here to visit the Cíes Islands, which are located in Vigo Bay. The three picturesque islands are a protected area where gulls, cormorants, and grey herons nest. However, there is also a place for holidaymakers — the islands have magnificent beaches, which are included in the top-ten on the planet. You can reach two of the islands of the archipelago by ferry. It is also possible to go there by yacht. But it is forbidden to stay on the islands at night.
