Robert Louis Stevenson

This is the remarkable Scottish writer and poet who lived in the XIX century. His name associates with the famous novel called “Treasure Island”. Other works of Stevenson are also pierced with the spirit of adventurism. The museum keeps many objects which will dive you into the world of adventures and new discoveries. Stevenson himself used to travel a lot that’s why there is plenty of stuff among the exponents which he had brought from his trips. Moreover, the museum displays his belongings - a fishing-rod, a tobacco pipe etc. Here you shall also find the wardrobe which inspired the author to create the prototype of the novel’s hero from “Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”.

How to get to the museum: take bus №67 till the intersection of George IV Bridge and Royal Mile. Go along Royal Mile till you reach Lady Stair's Close, which hosts the Writers’ Museum.

Besides, the city has a well-preserved district known as Calton Hill, which earlier used to be the popular residential areas of writers, artists and other elite of Edinburgh.
